The content is exclusively entertainment and culture, with no news or commentary podcasts. The closest they get is The Breakfast Club and Chelsea Handler.
Netflix’s roster is comedic banter, true crime, cooking, celebrity hosts like Pete Davidson and Martha Stewart, and companion shows for Bridgerton and Outer Banks.

What’s missing: a culture show from a conservative or faith perspective. Netflix would be smart to put someone in that seat. - NRB

Bottom line: The market isn’t collapsing. It’s maturing. With too many shows chasing the same viewers, expect consolidation, panel programming, and partnerships, not a wave of new launches. - NRB

Meanwhile, The Daily Wire debuted Friendly Fire last year to let its top talent spar over the news. Other top-50 conservative podcasts have thrived with the panel format, including Timcast IRL, Josh Howerton, and All-In.

The primary reason why? Too many shows.

But another metric stands out: new conservative podcast launches have slowed in 2026. Meanwhile, the left’s media ecosystem is already ramping up for the 2028 primary, with several new shows, including September launches of Crooked’s Still Counting and Catherine Rampell’s new show with The Bulwark.

Nathan’s quick take on where we’re headed…

The Wall Street Journal published a fascinating analysis of 70,000 hours of conservative podcasts today. However, their framing repeats the same mistakes others in legacy media continue to make about conservative podcasters.

Regarding their framing: “MAGA Podcasters” isn’t the correct label for much of conservative media. Yes, they support the President, but their shows are focused on almost anything but politics. The left’s media is all politics with a little culture, while the right is all culture (and faith) with a little politics.

For some perspective: Brett Cooper spent time focused on Nikole Hannah-Jones, Glen Beck and Michael Knowles talked about the hilarious lesbian bar in Boston, and Will Cain and Steven Crowder discussed Lindsay Clancy and The View. This is the norm. It’s not to say no one is talking about Trump (Shapiro, Bongino, and Regan focused on his UN speech today), but hyper-focusing on him is simply not the standard operating procedure on the right like it is on the left.

The WSJ reported that mentions of Trump are down from before the 2024 election, which shouldn’t be surprising. They also noted that the left’s coverage of Trump remains close to 2024 levels, which is honestly the more interesting media story. - NRB

One of my early-2026 predictions is holding up exceptionally well: Conservative media will discuss 2028 Democrat candidates more than 2028 GOP contenders.

While entire newsletters are dedicated to tracking Democrat hopefuls visiting early states, holding phony rallies, and selling books, the GOP remains quiet. To their credit, conservative media has largely stayed focused on the midterms.

Crack in the dam? The RNC Midterm Convention in Dallas last week drew some limited attention to 2028 as the RNC finalized the presidential primary calendar (no changes to the early states) and a few anonymously sourced Vance and Rubio stories surfaced. Vance did pick up his first 2028 Senate endorsement Monday from Jim Banks.

Still, GOP jockeying is so scarce that The Washington Examiner’s Christian Datoc had to get creative with Vice President JD Vance, asking: “Could you see yourself supporting either [Hegseth or Cruz] for a presidential campaign?”

Vance’s reply: “That’s an innovative way to ask the question, but I’m still not gonna take the bait.” - NRB
