On Friday, conservative media broke the news that VA Democrat Jay Jones wished to shoot a political opponent and murder the man’s children.
Republicans “pounced.” Conservative sites and commentators amplified it. Trump “truthed.” Local news packages aired. Yet, despite all this (and an ongoing national conversation around political violence), much of the corporate media is treating this like a back-bencher. It should be the biggest story of the day.
This is exactly why conservative media matters and why The Brand Brief exists to highlight it.
Where it’s headed: Conservatives are rightfully angered by the lack of coverage this story is receiving and the refusal of corporate media to ask Democrats if Jay Jones should withdraw from the race. Though cracks are emerging, as even Morning Joe is now calling for him to withdraw. It will drive the conservative ecosystem, and we’ll see if corporate media follows. - NRB
