For 36% of Americans, the first stop for developing stories is their preferred news organization. Meanwhile, 28% turn to search engines, and 19% to social media.
Where it gets interesting is age. Younger American adults (18-29) are far more likely to start with search engines (41%) or social media (31%), while just 14% rely on news organizations. Meanwhile, Older Americans (65+) flip that entirely, with 59% relying on their preferred news organization.
