The Virginia gubernatorial debate on Thursday night between Democrat Spanberger and Republican Sears may not drive an entire news cycle, but the trending clips offer a glimpse of what’s ahead. Here is what to expect from the conservative ecosystem in the final weeks of the Virginia elections, and a preview of what will catch fire during the 2026 midterms:
Political violence: Spanberger floundered for two minutes with pointed questions about Democrat Jay Jones and political violence.
Men in girls’ locker rooms: Asked repeatedly, Spanberger refused to state her position on allowing men to change in girls’ locker rooms.
Next up: Republican Jason Miyares will take on Democrat Jay Jones on Thursday in the Virginia Attorney General debate.
