In the spring of 2009, conservative media relentlessly hammered then-President Obama’s international “apology tour.” Talk radio giants like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity drove the narrative that Obama’s apologies for America and Western civilization were beneath the office and dangerously radical. (For our younger readers, here’s a top ten list of apologies).
The messaging worked. Obama’s honeymoon phase faded as his approvals declined, and Democrats lost over 60 House seats and 6 Senate seats the following year.
Now, just in time for the 2026 midterms, conservative media is engaged and highlighting rhetoric from leftists and Democrat candidates whose comments reveal a deep disdain (hate) for America’s character. - NRB
