✍️ WHAT MATTERS AND WHERE WE’RE GOING…

Nathan’s quick take on where we’re headed…

Maria Bartiromo, the face of FOX Business and host of its guest-heavy morning show, abruptly departed the network on Thursday.

While media reporters dig for the real reason behind her exit, it’s worth reflecting on her show’s unique role in the conservative media ecosystem. For many corporate heavy-hitters, Wall Street CEOs, and tech founders, Mornings with Maria was the closest they’d come to dabbling in conservative media.

FOX Business daytime simply doesn’t capture the same attention. Business leaders, Senate Republicans, and the Trump Administration regularly turned to Maria to unveil major economic news.

With her departure, the business-politics crossover is worth watching.

Of course, legacy mainstays like The Wall Street Journal Editorial Page still carry weight, but center-right political-business shows are gaining ground. We recently noted the success of former FOX Business host Trish Regan, as she has built a massive audience on YouTube. Ben Shapiro just launched a new business series in August, interviewing leaders like former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. Then there are the growing tech-optimist shows that occasionally dabble in politics: the All-In Podcast, Mike Solana’s Pirate Wires newsletter, and the BG2 Pod.

My inbox is open if you have the inside story (or theory) on Maria’s sudden exit, or if you simply have a recommendation for a great business-politics show. - NRB

🎙️ NEW MEDIA VOICES

The Megyn Kelly Show - 9/2

Kelly calls out jury intimidation in the Lindsay Clancy trial and explains how Brooke Shields’ book on postpartum depression is relevant today, referencing the overmedicating crisis in America
She condemns the lack of empathy for young mother Erin Piacenti’s murder by Pamela Cisneros
Kelly rips into Tyler Robinson’s defense lawyer for demonizing Charlie Kirk and misrepresenting his Christian views on sexuality

The Ben Shapiro Show - 9/2

Shapiro condemns the “grifter industrial complex” on the right, which he says is exemplified by figures like Milo Yiannopoulos and Andrew Tate
He calls out Yiannopoulos for his grifting, including his “ex-gay” claims and unverified stories of mistreatment during deportation
Shapiro describes Piers Morgan’s show as a “Click Bordello,” comparing him to Jerry Springer’s sensationalism
Using his book Lions and Scavengers, he explains how “collective illusions” are praised in the attention economy, which he argues skews politics and distracts from real issues
Shapiro explains why attractive people can now be featured in underwear ads again

The Matt Walsh Show - 9/2

Walsh argues the modern justice system is hopelessly broken by cases like Lindsay Clancy, where he believes “majority female juries” are prone to “legalize premeditated homicide”
He laments the alleged decline of the jury selection process from a privilege for intelligent men to a system compromised by diversity initiatives and the pervasive influence of social media
Walsh weighs the effectiveness of bench trials, citing their implementation in Singapore, which led to lower crime rates
He also advocates for more severe punishments, including the death penalty for drug traffickers bringing in over 10g of heroin

Relatable with Allie Beth Stuckey - 9/2

Stuckey argues Lindsay Clancy is 100% guilty of murdering her children, rejecting the defense’s claims of postpartum psychosis
She criticizes the defense’s reliance on retroactive diagnoses, noting that pre-murder her doctors found no evidence of psychosis
Stuckey believes Clancy’s phone searches and complex method of strangulation demonstrate premeditation and criminal responsibility
She decries the online villainization of Patrick Clancy, drawing a parallel to the biblical Barabbas analogy
Stuckey wraps up with the Oreogate story involving a moms group chat, and debates if it’s real or just clickbait to spark anger

The John Doyle Show - 9/2

Doyle slams the Lindsay Clancy murder trial’s defense for its “theatrics” and the perceived leniency given to women in the justice system
He criticizes the modern degradation of jury duty, arguing that expanding it to the “unwashed masses” has led to emotional juries
Doyle calls out performative activism on TikTok, exemplified by a viral video about alleged pregnant children in ICE detention centers
He condemns the leftist reaction to the killing of Erin Piacenti, a young mother and successful Bank of America employee
