Conservative new media is as much culture commentary as political punditry, especially among podcast stars. Sports, faith, true crime, and pop culture often take priority over the Beltway’s politics. Case in point: Megyn Kelly opened her show Friday with Britney Spears’ DUI.
Now, two conservative institutional players are making a more concerted push into the print culture conversation: The Wall Street Journal launched Free Expression in December, and The Daily Wire recently launched Upstream. Both signal a growing effort on the right to cover culture alongside politics.
